Helping children to catch up
Throughout successive lockdowns, the school remained open to critical workers and those who were vulnerable. In addition, the school developed a programme of high-quality remote teaching and learning throughout. Subject leaders also amended progression documents to ensure that Key Objectives and areas of learning that may have been missed due to lockdown are taught at a later stage and to emphasise those objectives which are crucial and so must not be missed. The screenshot below is an excerpt from our Geography progression document.
Alongside this, class teachers undertook regular assessments and Question Level Analysis to identify any gaps in knowledge and amended future planning in order to close these. For example in mathematics, teachers will be focusing on areas of number, place value and calculations that assessments identified as weaker to ensure that the most valuable areas of mathematics have been caught up.
As well as this, each year group produced their own 'catch up plan' to supplement the Whole School Catch Up Plan.
