Useful Information

  • Our class PE day is every Friday. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit in school. Thank you!

  • Please remember that the school gates will open at 8:30am and the register will be taken at 8:40am. The children can be picked up anytime between 3:00-3:20pm.

  • We ask that your child brings their (labelled) PE kit to school on a daily basis. They can wear their PE kit to school every Friday in place of their school uniform.

  • New 'Home Learning' activities will be handed out every Friday. These will then be collected for marking on Wednesday.

  • We endeavour to read with your child twice a week and change their books on these occasions.

Please, please, please ensure that EVERY item your child brings into school is clearly labelled with their name. Items will inevitably become misplaced and it makes it a lot easier to return items to their owners when things are labelled. Thank you so much! smiley

Heads Up!

Just to make you aware, we have our Class 'Family Worship' on Thursday 28th March 2019 at 8:50-9:15am. Our theme will be 'Mother's Day' and we will be celebrating the special ladies in our lives. We look forward to seeing you there!

TLCs (Termly Learning Conferences) are taking place on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th March. This is a great time to discuss how your child is getting on and looking together at their targets as we approach the summer term. It is always beneficial that your child attends the appointment with you. Please sign up for a TLC slot, on the clipboards outside of the school office from Monday 11th March.

In Class RS we are always kind to each other and we treat the people the way that we would like to be treated ourselves.

We have KIND hands,

KIND feet,

KIND teeth

and KIND words.

We remember this through our school Christian Values and we let our LIGHTS shine! smiley

Our Learning in RS

This week we have been working on our subtrcation skills. We are getting really good at understanding the concept and understanding the idea that when subtracting the number gets smaller. In Literacy we have been writing some of the pages for our non-fiction books - this week we wrote about an army tank and a fire engine. We have been learning about the Easter story in RE - Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and everyone shouted 'Hosanna!' - we kow that Hosanna means save us.

Look at our brilliant independent writing

In Phonics this week we have been impressing Mrs Smith by telling her all the phonemes, digraphs and trigraphs that we know. We have now reached the end of 'Phase 3' and will be spending the next few weeks recapping sounds and applying them in our reading and writing.

The sounds that we will be focusing on in this class next week are 'ear', 'air' and 'ure'.

This means that so far the sounds we have explored are: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, nk, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er.

We have been also been looking at some new tricky words: 'me', 'be','you', 'are', 'was', 'all', 'they'and 'my'. These are tricky because you can't sound them out, you just have to learn them. We have been doing this by practising the 'Tricky Word' song!  smiley

We have been invaded by a naughty elf in RS this week! Meet Pickles...

He has been causing lots of trouble in our classroom. He stole the star from the top of our Christmas tree! How naughty! He did leave us with a behaviour peg with his name on though so we immediately put him on 'Think About It'. We really hope that he returns out star soon!
