Welcome to RS
Teacher: Mrs Melissa Smith
TA: Mrs Lynda Lawrence
We have an 'open door policy'. Please feel free to talk to us at the start or end of the day. No question is too small! Alternatively, you can email the class teacher on:
Stars of the week!
Our 'Learning Star' of the week is...
Holly for a fantastic piece of home learning all about her 'holiday news'
Our 'Value Star' of the week is...
Minsa for showing courage and spirit by contributing her ideas more during class discussions.
Please, please, please ensure that EVERY item your child brings into school is clearly labelled with their name. Items will inevitably become misplaced and it makes it a lot easier to return items to their owners when things are labelled. Thank you so much!
Welcome back to school! We hope you have all had a lovely break and are eager to start our fun filled Spring Term! We have lots of things planned over the next few weeks including (but not limited too...)
Our Learning in RS
This week we have been continuing to think about transport - drawing pictures and writing labels of different pieces of 'transportation' during our Literacy lesson. In Maths we have been continuing to learn from the Numberblocks (we met Numberblock 7 this week!) and we have been exloring coins and working on our ability to recognise different coins. We have been finding out about Islam in our RE lessons and we have been working on strengthening our fingers (in order to help us wth our writing) by taking part in Dough Disco - fun hand exercises using playdough! On Thursday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Gemma. She works with the RSPB, looking after wildlife. She took us on a welly walk around the school grounds and we hunted for minibeasts - we found all sorts...a slug, an earwig, a woodlouse, a wasp and some wiggly worms. It was great fun!
In Phonics this week we have been learning the sounds: 'oa', 'oo'(long sound as in 'zoo') and 'oo' (short sound as in 'foot').
This means that so far the sounds we have explored are: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, nk, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, oo
We have been also been looking at some new tricky words: 'me', 'be','you', 'are', 'was', 'all', 'they'and 'my'. These are tricky because you can't sound them out, you just have to learn them. We have been doing this by practising the 'Tricky Word' song!
Christmas in RS
We have been invaded by a naughty elf in RS this week! Meet Pickles...
He has been causing lots of trouble in our classroom. He stole the star from the top of our Christmas tree! How naughty! He did leave us with a behaviour peg with his name on though so we immediately put him on 'Think About It'. We really hope that he returns out star soon!
