Welcome to RS
Teacher: Mrs Melissa Smith
TA: Mrs Lynda Lawrence
We have an 'open door policy'. Please feel free to talk to us at the start or end of the day. No question is too small! Alternatively, you can email the class teacher on:
Stars of the week!
Our 'Learning Star' of the week is...
Jacob for wowing Mrs Lawrence with his great learning attitude whilst working on a subtraction challenge.
Our 'Value Star' of the week is...
Max for 'trust' - he is a very trustworthy member of Class RS and sets a super example to others.
Please, please, please ensure that EVERY item your child brings into school is clearly labelled with their name. Items will inevitably become misplaced and it makes it a lot easier to return items to their owners when things are labelled. Thank you so much!
Just to make you aware, we have our Class 'Family Worship' on Thursday 28th March 2019 at 8:50-9:15am. Our theme will be 'Mother's Day' and we will be celebrating the special ladies in our lives. We look forward to seeing you there!
In Class RS we are always kind to each other and we treat the people the way that we would like to be treated ourselves.
We have KIND hands,
and KIND words.
We remember this through our school Christian Values and we let our LIGHTS shine!
Our Learning in RS
This week we have been working on our subtrcation skills. We are getting really good at understanding the concept and understanding the idea that when subtracting the number gets smaller. In Literacy we have been writing some of the pages for our non-fiction books - this week we wrote about an army tank and a fire engine. We have been learning about the Easter story in RE - Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and everyone shouted 'Hosanna!' - we kow that Hosanna means save us.
In Phonics this week we have been impressing Mrs Smith by telling her all the phonemes, digraphs and trigraphs that we know. We have now reached the end of 'Phase 3' and will be spending the next few weeks recapping sounds and applying them in our reading and writing.
The sounds that we will be focusing on in this class next week are 'ear', 'air' and 'ure'.
This means that so far the sounds we have explored are: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, nk, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er.
We have been also been looking at some new tricky words: 'me', 'be','you', 'are', 'was', 'all', 'they'and 'my'. These are tricky because you can't sound them out, you just have to learn them. We have been doing this by practising the 'Tricky Word' song!
Christmas in RS
We have been invaded by a naughty elf in RS this week! Meet Pickles...
He has been causing lots of trouble in our classroom. He stole the star from the top of our Christmas tree! How naughty! He did leave us with a behaviour peg with his name on though so we immediately put him on 'Think About It'. We really hope that he returns out star soon!
