To make the day to day running as smooth as possible, please could I ask your help with the following:

  • Please could your child bring in a drawstring/PE bag with a change of clothes in. This can be kept on their pegs in Nursery each week. You could purchase a St. Matthews one from our website - these take up less room on the pegs than backpacks. Thank you!
  • We have so many items that need to be named in order to save time and confusion: drink bottles, lunch boxes, bags, coats and jumpers. Please can you ensure that you re-apply names as they wash off? Thank you for your support.
  • At the end of each session, we will try to have all of your child’s belongings ready. We will sign them out. If you have older children, please could they wait outside, to avoid any extra noise for the children waiting.

We enjoyed a great Sports Day last week. Here are some photos of the parents under and over race!

Some of our pre-schoolers enjoyed a visit to Tamar House residential home today. We sang them our good morning songs, did some colouring, read stories and all joined together for some nursery rhymes.

Nursery enjoyed a visit to the Prayer bus this week. Reverend Keith explained to us how we can pray for all people in the world, the children then explored the resources which may help us to pray.

We've been enjoying doing p.e. out in our field, looking at the bug hotel and having stories and snack in our new forest school tree stump area.

The butterflies have left nursery! It's been a real treat to watch them over the last 3 weeks growing from caterpilars, to cocoons, to butterflies. Today we released them outside, where they flew away!

Caterpillars! Our class caterpillars have grown each day, they're now in their butterfly garden, growing their wings inside their cocoons!

We had a visit from some chicks this week! They were only 2 days old, they all had a chance to hold them.

On Friday, we had visitors from St. Andrew's church. They told us the story of Jesus calming the storm. Isaac and JB told us they thought the children were superbly behaved!

We had a busy week last week, with World book day on Thursday, then our cake sale after school each day. On Shrove Tuesday we also made bicuits and pancakes!

Last week was Internet Safety Week. In Nursery, we shared a great resource called 'The Adventures of Smartie the Penguin'. The children learned about what to do if they are unsure about something on the Internet.

The nursery children have enjoyed learning inside and outside with a welly walk and slime!

Today we had a super visit from the RSPB, who led us in a Minibeast hunt throughout our grounds. Enjoy the photos.

The children enjoyed visiting Father Christmas this week. They performed brilliantly for our show last week too.

The children enjoyed decorating their tree on Friday. This week, parents are enjoying 'Stay and Play'.

The children enjoyed their number day today. We did lots of counting, number matching and ordering of numbers.

This week the children worked really hard in p.e. balancing on the apparatus, jumping, landing and moving in different ways. In maths, the children were putting numbers in the correct order and sorting different sized items.

The children had a chance to taste porridge last week. We also went into the MUGA for p.e., practicing walking forwards, backwards, sideways and running being aware of space.

Over the last couple of weeks, the nursery children have enjoyed: music times with Cassie, p.e. in the hall, a listening and observation walk throughout the school, dancing in the classroom and movement in the dance studio.
