Assessment at St Matthew's
Assessment at our school will be ongoing for all pupils in our care. Teachers will deliver the curriculum that children need by using the National Curriculum Attainment statements. Assessments against these statements will be made by Teachers and Teaching Assistants and are monitored by the senior leaders in school. Children in YF will be assessed against the Early Learning Goals. Children in all other year groups will be assessed against the new National Expectations for their year group. Children will take the Y1 phonics test and end of key stage SATs . Parents will be actively encouraged to communicate with teachers on the progress and attainment of their child. Termly parents' evenings led by the children and the spring term report will provide more formal opportunities for discussion. Parents of reception children will encouraged to come to school on regular occasions to share their child's learning journeys.
